It’s a big decision to choose a bootcamp. There is a lot on the line, both in time and money. Both Lambda School and App Academy are bootcamps that teach Software Engineering,
Design, and Data Science. Each bootcamp has its own way to pay, set of classes, and services.
One of the most important things to think about is how much time you have to study and what courses each school offers.
Lambda School vs App Academy 2023– Overview
At Lambda School, you can study Software Engineering, Design, and Data Science either full-time or part-time. At App Academy, you can study Software Engineering both full-time and on your own time.
You will need to think about how you will pay for school. Lambda School gives its students different ways to pay, including Upfront, Financing, Income Sharing, and Living Stipends.
Upfront, Income Sharing, and Scholarships are all things that App Academy offers to its students.
Students pay between $0 and $15,000 to take a course at Lambda School. On the other hand, each course at App Academy costs anywhere from $0 to $20,000.
Overview: Lambda School vs App Academy
Lambda School:
Lambda School offers immersive online coding bootcamps in Android development, Data Science, iOS development, full-stack web development, and user experience (UX) design.
Some of the lambda students are offered income share agreements and a pilot living stipend program during the intensive nine-month programming course.
The Lambda School says that 86% of its graduates get jobs within six months and make more than $50,000 a year.
Lambda School is a Bootcamp that is known for its long list of classes and high-quality web development and data science institutes.
The industry of online coding has a good name, and the courses last for a full six months. They do a good job.
They were based on the idea that traditional university education is “done,” in part because universities aren’t trying to make sure their graduates are successful or help them find good jobs.
Through their incoming payment agreement, Lambda School’s default payment options let you stop paying them until you get a job. This shows that they want to help you find a job.
App Academy:
A coding Bootcamp gives a full-time course in software engineering called “The App Academy.” The curriculum covers a lot of different things, such as back-end engineering, iOS growth, big data, and more.
The interactive software engineering bootcamp costs $17,000 up front and has payment plans and financing options.
In San Francisco, graduates of App Academy earn an average of $101,000 and in New York City, they make an average of $89,000.
App Academy is a Bootcamp that teaches people the technology skills they need to become software engineers.
Their online and on-campus programs in New York are both full-time, immersive. There is also an open online course and a course to prepare for Bootcamp.
People who want to go into software engineering but have never done it before will get help from App Academy.
People who need more help in certain subjects will be able to get it on campus, online, or through their pre-Bootcamp program.
Duration of the Bootcamp: Lambda School vs App Academy
App Academy
App Academy has a 24-Week Program where students can take part in a coding bootcamp that will help them become full-stack developers.
App Academy says that a student can learn JavaScript, Ruby on Rails, SQL, HTML, and CSS from the ground up. Their lessons start with Web Development Basics and end with Interview Preparation.
Experts say that a five- to six-month course is enough time for students to learn enough to feel comfortable in interviews.
Every day, students are expected to be in class from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. That’s about eight hours a day, or forty hours a week.
People who have financial responsibilities are less likely to choose this course. This course is great for students who don’t have a lot of time but still want to get a degree and be ready to work in 5 or 6 months.
Lambda School
Lambda School has a Full-Time Course that lasts 9 months and a Part-Time Course that lasts 18 months.
Their full-time courses, which are 40 hours a week, last nine months, while their part-time programmes last 18 months.
Even though the timing seems unlikely, it could be interesting for students who want to learn more about the subject.
Most people with financial responsibilities might not be able to take the full-time course.
They could choose their part-time classes, though. The part-time course would still have to be done in 18 months.
As was already said, a student who spends too much time getting information that isn’t needed is wasting time that could have been used to make thousands of dollars.
Location of the School: Lambda vs App Academy
App Academy
Live-in-person classes have always been offered by App Academy. To take these classes, students had to go to the campus in person.
After the global pandemic broke out, App Academy decided to move all of its campus classes to live courses that can be taken from anywhere.
This decision has been praised by the App Academy community.
They’ve made a way for students to take live classes from afar that is the same as taking classes on campus. App Academy students are expected to go to class five days a week until further notice.
Lambda School
At Lambda School, you can only take classes online. There are no classes for them on campus.
Many people think that online remote live classes are bad, but in times of crisis, like the pandemic, they are the best thing for students to do.
One of the requirements to take a class at Lambda is that you have access to a computer, WiFi, and a quiet place to work.
Make sure you meet the minimum requirements for a Lambda programme if you want to sign up for it.
Prep Course: Lambda vs App Academy
App Academy
App Academy’s Interview Prep pricing is one of the most confusing in the business right from the start.
During our research, we found App Academy’s Courses to be very hard to choose from, and it’s likely that many students will feel the same way.
Live Online classes, which can be taken by students who choose In-Person Classes, cost $3000.
Students who choose Online Bootcamp Prep have three options: Standard, Plus, and Premium.
At the same time, each choice costs more than the last one because it comes with extras like more tutoring time and interview prep hours.
Even though the prices are clear, it is hard to understand why a person can choose from four different prices for the same Online Course. When choosing a prep course, we tell students to be careful.
Lambda School
The Online Preparation Course from Lambda is free to use. Students have to take a test at the end of the course.
In addition to the course, there is a 30-hour Self-Paced Precourse Work that can be completed at your own pace as a guide to answering questions.
It has a lot of videos that people can watch to get answers to their questions and learn what they need to know to solve coding problems.
Courses & Programs: Lambda vs App Academy
App Academy
At App Academy, you can take a 24-week online course to learn how to build websites.
Its goal is to make Full-Stack Developers who are good at JavaScript, Python, SQL, HTML, and CSS. Students also learn ReactJS, Express, Flask, and SQL Alchemy.
App Academy only teaches Web Development Courses and gives full help for those courses. It’s not clear if they’ll add any more programmes to their schedule soon.
The student must be a U.S. citizen and be willing to work at least 40 hours a week.
Lambda School
At Lambda School, students can choose between the Web Development and Data Science programs. Even though it seems simple, each application has its own set of rules that must be followed.
Students who want to join a Data Science programme should have at least a Bachelor’s degree and some experience in math or statistics.
For the Web Development Program, you only need a GED or a high school diploma.
Both courses, though, require students to be US citizens who are willing to work at least 40 hours a week.
Who Should go to:
App Academy
People who want to go into software engineering but have never done it before can get help from App Academy.
With their on-campus, online, and pre-Bootcamp programs, they can help people who need more help on certain topics.
Lambda School
Lambda School is for people who are really interested in a career in technology and are willing to put in the work it takes to get there.
In Lambda’s website, they describe the type of student they want as “gritty,” someone who can persevere through difficult times and dedicate 100% of their time to computer science and software engineering.
If you’re not sure if you want to go into software engineering or data science, Lambda School is not the best coding bootcamp for you.
Start with a solution that costs less money and takes less time, like SkillShare, which lets you learn at your own pace and costs less time and money.
Start with a solution that costs less money and takes less time, like SkillShare, which lets you learn at your own pace and costs less time and money.
Then you should go back to Lambda School someday! There’s no point in going to such an expensive and time-consuming school if you’re not sure if this is the right career for you.
Lambda has one of the best coding bootcamps for people who are dedicated and want to learn software engineering in a live classroom setting.
How To Apply To?
App Academy
The application process has five parts that help us learn more about you, why you want to learn software engineering, and what your goals are.
No matter who you are or where you come from, they will give you all the information you need to learn what you need to know to get into the school.
The first thing to do is to fill out the application form.
App Academy will ask you for basic information, like if you have any programming experience, what your highest level of education is, how long you’ve been working, and so on.
Next, they will ask when and where you would like to take your course and what your plans are for the future.
They will also ask if you know that this is a full-time job and how you plan to support yourself while you look for work.
They will also ask you where you want to work, what kind of job you want, and how you heard about App Academy.
Lastly, they’ll ask if you’ll be able to work after the programme (if that’s a requirement), how you’d like to be paid, and what your gender, race/ethnicity, LGBTQ status, or veteran status is.
The second step is to test your skills that don’t have to do with tech. You will have to take an exam that includes a section on logical thinking and a typing test.
The third step is a test on how to code. You’ll have to finish a 60-minute test with three parts in that time. Your code must pass all three of these. There will be three chances for you to do well on the test.
The fourth step is to go on a technical interview. A two-step coding prompt and a partner requirement will be given to you during this interview. You will have two chances to pass this test.
The sixth step is an interview. App Academy will use this interview to learn more about who you are, how quickly you can learn, and how much effort you are willing to put into this.
Lambda school
The Lambda School application process includes making an account, filling out an online application form, taking entrance exams, and filling out paperwork to enroll.
Also, you have to choose between two programs: software engineering with a focus on web development or data science.
Then you’ll choose a date to start and finish your application.
But Lambda School has a certain type of person in mind when deciding who to let into their programs, as it says on their website.

Conclusion: Lambda School vs App Academy
Both Lambda School and App Academy offer the same kinds of services to their students.
Lambda School has a full-time online course for both Web Development and Data Science. Self-Paced Full Stack Web Development Course with Live-Remote Instruction is available from App Academy.
The main difference between these two is the Prep Course. In this segment, Lambda gives away Precourse Work for free, but App Academy’s pricing is hard to understand.
Our team thinks that App Academy could have done a better job and given students a more easy-to-use option.
Overall, we think Lambda Academy does a great job compared to the others. The course takes longer to finish than App Academy, though.
Both schools require students to know the basics of coding before they can sign up for a class.
Each person has a different list of needs. You can choose the school that meets your needs the best.
